Meet the Photographer

Hi, I'm Alliah Vergara

I’ve always been passionate about the arts, long before I ever picked up a camera. Born in the Philippines and now based in Toronto, Canada,  I carry both places as part of my story and perspective.  Art has always been my refuge, a way to express what words never could. I began with painting, using color and drawings as a therapeutic outlet, which then led me to photography, I turned to self-portraiture. At first, photography was just a tool for capturing reference details, light, textures, and faces of people around me. But somewhere along the way, I think when I discovered analog film I fell in love (passionately) with the medium itself.

From there, I never stopped. Photography became both my outlet and my language. It encouraged me to document more of my life and encouraged me to be more present, and my desire to create grew into something bigger: a way to capture and honor the meaningful connections I’ve built with people along the way. For me, photography is more than images. It is a way of seeing, of keeping your favourite memories within your reach, and of turning life into art.

Today, I work as a hybrid digital and film photographer, blending the timeless textures of film with the flexibility of digital to create imagery that feels both modern and nostalgic. My approach is fluid and collaborative, guided by the energy of the people I photograph. My ultimate goal is to craft imagery that feels natural yet elevated—vibrant, intentional, and truly authentic. Every photograph is crafted as a work of art, designed to honor stories as unique as the people within them. This philosophy extends beyond personal work to collaborations with brands and businesses, where I focus on creating imagery that feels alive, meaningful, and true to their vision.
